Carolina Herrera Arrives at Armarium
"Elegance is a whole combination of things," says the legendary fashion designer Carolina Herrera in her eponymous book. "Not only what you are wearing, but how you act. It's attitude. It's movement. It doesn't have anything to do with beauty or wealth."
Mrs. Herrera—and by extension, her fashion label, which she launched in 1981—is a standard bearer of uptown sophistication wrapped with globe-trotting modernity and sensibility. She is Venezuelan, but she is a New Yorker—and her dresses pull from both her Latin American roots (they are celebratory, often colorful, and full of life) and her Manhattan pragmatism (they are sleek and chic and imbued with that somehow hard to capture Gotham magic).
Over the years, Mrs. Herrera has come to be known for a number of aesthetic trademarks—the white blouse, polka dots, stripes. In fact, in her Spring 2017 collection—pieces of which are now available here at Armarium—those striations were reinterpreted in an eye-catching black and white scheme (recalling dresses that were once worn by Venus and Serena Williams on the pages of Vogue). Replete with brocade, denim, and more, Mrs. Herrera’s Spring lineup is a statement of her house’s style codes—upholding that something-extra elegance to which she consistently refers.
To wear and to appreciate a Carolina Herrera design is to have that knowingness and that impeccability—the definition, really, of a class act. We’re so honored to now be carrying Carolina Herrera here at Armarium—browse now!
